B, p. 06 OBITUARY Fay LeMeadows dies at 96 (headline) He was a minister, a writer and the host of a radio talk show. (subhead) by Angie Watson Gay Dayton Daily News Fay LeMeadows -- Dayton minister, WHIO radio talk show host and author --died Tuesday in Venice, Fla., where he had been living for more than 30 years. The Rev. LeMeadows was born Oct. 9, 1902, in Beaver City, Neb. He entered the ministry in 1922 and served churches in Nebraska and in Ontario, Canada. He moved to Dayton in 1932 and was the pastor at Shiloh Congregational Church for 36 years. Under his leadership, the congregation at Shiloh grew from 100 members to 3,300 members, which at that time was the third largest of its denomination in the country. At the time of his retirement, Rev. LeMeadows was appointed minister emeritus. Rev. LeMeadows would later serve as an interim minister in Hawaii. After retiring, he and his wife, Omega, moved to Venice, Fla., where he was active in the Shriners, in nearby Sarasota. He also served on the Asolo Theater board of directors, also in Sarasota. While a Dayton resident, Rev. LeMeadows hosted a 15 minute radio program on WHIO, "Time with Fay LeMeadows," that was broadcast once weekly for 33 years. The program originally called "The Art of Living" was built around Rev. LeMeadows offering Sunday sermonettes and life's philosophies. His talents also led him to write at least two books, perhaps the most well-known of which was _Little Silver Cloud, One Bird Flying_ which carried bits of his poetry and his philosophical essays as well as illustrations that features [d] his paintings. Rev. LeMeadows had many ties to the Miami Valley community, including the Mystic Lodge, a Masonic body, and the Miami Valley Hospital board. He also headed the Dayton Lions Club in 1938 and was president of the Dayton Ministerial Association. Rev. LeMeadows was preceded in death by his wife, Omega, in 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Ewing Funderal Home in Venice, Fla. A memorial sercice is planned for 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at Shiloh Church.
