Henry S. Boyd Fatally Stricken While Plowing - Martinsburg, WV, May 5, 1924 - Stricken suddenly with apoplexy while plowing on his farm last Thursday afternoon about 5:30 o'clock, Henry S. Boyd of the county, died shortly afterward. The deceased, who was born in the county 74 years ago, had been working on the farm in his accustomed manner up until stricken, and had not been indisposed. His death, coming so suddenly as it did, was a distinct shock to his many friends and relatives by whom he was held in high esteem. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon meeting at the home at 2 o'clock. The services were held in the Tomahawk Presbyterian Church shortly thereafter with Dr. J.A. McMurray pastor of that church and Rev. _ C. Messick of Jones Spring, officiating. Interment was made nearby. Surviving are three sons, Charence A. Boyd, of Johnstown, Phillip M. Boyd of the Back Creek Orchard, and Elmer H. Boyd at home, five daughters, Lucy Saville, of Tommahawk, Mrs. Florence Farley of this city, Mrs Anna Saville, residing near home, Mrs. Martin Albright, of Paradise Orchard, and Miss Edith Boyd, at home; four brothers, Levi, William, Robert and Charles all of Winchester; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Kern of Winchester, and Mrs. Alice Yeakley of Harrisburg, PA; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
