There is something that confounds
me every time I think of the Boyds in
Pennsylvania.
And that is- my Boyds who are
"strays" in that area- blown in and out by
some unknown storm around
1868. Maybe it was the call of a bakery??.... or
an uncle?
An Irish couple, John and Susan
Canrin BOYD moved to Ontario, Canada about
1847 with their son William
(b 1844) when Wm was 3 yrs old. (Don't know the
ship or port or exact date)
Wm married Eleanor Stuart in
1863 in Canada. Eleanor died in Owen Sound,
Canada in 1875. In the meantime,
their son William Robert BOYD was born in
Pittsburg PA in 1868. His
sister Florence was born in Kalamazoo MI in 1870.
and two more children (Susan
and James) were born somewhere before 1875
when Eleanor died.
William Sr (b 1844) was a baker.
It must have been that he went to
different towns to work his
trade. His son William's obit states that he
(jr) learned the baker trade
with his father in the bakery at the State
Hospital at Kalamazoo MI.
He (Wm sr) married his second wife Mary McNaughtin in Ontario after Eleanor died.
I wonder why Wm sr went to
Pittsburg and not Cleveland or Buffalo or Chicago...
Perhaps an uncle there or
some such?? Wonder if there are any Boyd brothers
in PA with a John Cox of Ireland
who was b about 1817, where little to
nothing is known of what became
of that John?
