My name is Kevin Marie (Boyd) Kraaz.  Let me tell you up front that I am a woman and I was named Kevin because my mom thought it was a good “Irish” name, it was a girls/ boys name (she knew 2 little girls with that name), and she liked the meaning (gentleness and kindness).  : )  I live in Springfield, Oregon, USA.  I was raised in Riddle, Oregon (small southern town in Oregon population 1100).  Most of my father’s family lives in Riddle, Oregon.  I am a novice at genealogy.  I haven’t even had a class yet although I plan on taking one as soon they start up again in the fall.  I received three notebooks of genealogy from my mom last fall that she had accumulated; one of which is the Boyd Family.  I have been searching the internet ever since.  Someone in this group suggested that we re-introduce ourselves and list our family line.  I am not sure how to do this but here is my list of ancestors.  I am starting with my father and working my way back to William Boyd b. 14 Oct 1731 in Ireland

David Boyd fought in the Civil War with the South.  He had a daughter named Belle Boyd who was a confederate spy.  I have the article on her but I can’t prove she
is related to my David Boyd in any way... yet!  My mom is certain she is. James Boyd had a son named James. He fought with the North in the Civil War. Thomas Boyd fought with the North in the Civil War.  Alexander Boyd he fought with he North in the Civil
War.  see Belle Boyd's Ancestry

The story goes that this ggggfather Robert Boyd that came from Ireland was taking his wife and children to Kentucky on the Mississippi River when he and his wife took sick and died from Yellow Fever near St. Louis, MO in a little town called Natchee.  They were buried there at Boyd Mound, MO.  The six children were farmed out to families in the area.  When I did research on the Boyd Mound, I discovered it was an archaeological dig of Indian graves.  Natchee’s cemetery listing did not list these relatives, but it did say there were headstone that they could not read.  Also, the kids
probably had no money to buy a headstone.  My relative, gggfather Robert Boyd was farmed out to a slave owner who treated him like a servant and called him poor white trash.  His job was to take food to the black slaves and everything else a boy of 12 could do.   When a load of slaves were to be sold, they were taken down the river on a river boat and Robert went along to feed the slaves.  When they were able to go
back to the plantation, Robert hid in the engine room and fought off the crew with the meat cleaver he used to cut the meat for the slaves.  He finally got free and went to live with the Chippewa Indians (Ojibwa).  He later started a trading post, worked as a raftman on the Mississippi and in a sawmill.

My gggggfather was William  Boyd (b) 14 Oct 1731 in Ireland; (d) 12 April 1821 Waterford, Erie County, PA.   You have him dying in 1831.  Married Sarah Johnson
1757 in Ireland.  She was born 28 May 1741 in Ireland and died 1 May 1808 in Waterford, PA.   Their Children:
