Leavittsville Man Killed in Roswell Mine Accident:
Ralph H. Boyd, 25, of Leavittsville,
Ohio died Saturday
afternoon in Dover hospital
of injuries sustained earlier
in the day by a fall of slate
at the Blue Shaft mine near
Roswell. He was a member of
the Leavittsville Methodist
church and is survived by
his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ross
Boyd one brother, Clifford,
and one sister, Maxine, all
of Leavittsville. Mr Boyd
was a special deputy sheriff of
Orange-twp, having been appointed
by Sheriff John G.
Kempthorne.
Mr. Boyd was born in Union-twp
April 19, 1913, the son
of Ross and Erma Boyd. He
was active in the young people's
organization of the church
and served as Sunday school
superintendent and teacher.
He was a graduate of Dell Roy
high school and for several
years he had been an employe of
the Blue Shaft Coal Co. Mr
Boyd was to have been married
Christmas day to Miss Twila
George of Carrollton.
Funeral services were held
Monday afternoon in the Leavittsville
M. E. church, conducted by
his pastor, Rev. William Miller.
Interment was made in the
church cemetery.
