b 18 May 1837, on 11 May 1865 in Belfast Co Antrim Ireland. They
sailed to New Zealand on the
"Warrior Queen" 1867 with daughters
Elizabeth (known as Eveleen)
age 2 Esther Sarah 9 1/2 mths and infant
John, arriving N.Z. 1868.
Infant John died at sea. Children born in
N.Z. are Kathleen Mary 2 Sept
1870, Emily 10 Jan 1872, Charlotte 1874,
Penrose 25 Aug 1875 and Warren
7 Apr. 1878.
John BOYD was a Merchant and
he also started a brewery in Dunedin. This
was the company Wilson and
Boyd which made Wilson's beer, and was taken
over by Speights, still making
beer today. John brought Justin
McCarthy from Blarney
Castle as the brewer, and also Thomas Bracken who
wrote 'God Defend New Zealand'
our National Anthem.
We know nothing about John's
parents apart from their names John BOYD
and
Esther Taylor BLACK(E) and would love to find them, maybe someone
will recognise these two.
