CHARLES A. LORD married, July
2, 1884, ELIZA PRICE BOYD. Three children
were born to their marriage,
VERA, HAROLD, and MILDRED M. LORD
Charles A. Lord was
born at Rushville, Schuyler County, Illinois, March 21,1868,
and was the eleventh in order
of birth of the twelve children born to
Joseph and ANNA (BOYD) Lord.
Mrs. Anna (BOYD) Lord was born in Missouri
and was a representative of
the Boyd family that settled at Booneville,
that state, at the time the
great frontlersman, Daniel Boone, founded
that town. The Boyd family
was early founded in Virginia. After their
marriage Joseph and Anna (BOYD)
Lord continued their residence at
Rushville, Illinois, until
October, 1868, when, with their eleven
children, they set forth with
teams and two covered wagons to establish
a home in the new State of
Nebraska, which had been admitted to the
Union in the preceding year.
Joseph Lord became the owner of 200 acres
of land three miles south
of Salem, Richardson County, and there
reclaimed and developed a
productive farm, both he and his wife having
been honored pioneer citizens
of Nebraska at the time of their death and
both having endured their
full share of the labors and hardships that
marked the pioneer era.

Vol. 3
BOYD, ROBERT C. was born in
Franklin County, Pennsylvania, October 25,
1866, and was reared and educated
there, supplementing his schooling
with three years of working
experience in his father's store. Mr. Boyd
in November, 1884, came to
Nebraska and went to work for the Carson
National Bank as a clerk.
At that time his brother, EDWARD M. BOYD,was
manager of this bank.
Edward M.Boyd died in 1924, and the two brothers
were closely associated in
their banking and other interests for a great
many years. Robert C.
Boyd was made assistant cashier of the Carson
Trust National Bank in 1891.
He has assisted in building up one of the
strongest banks in Southeastern
Nebraska. He is a member of the Nebraska
State and American Bankers
Associations, and in business and in
citizenship is known among
his associates for his quiet but efficient
manner and his trustworthiness
in all the affairs and relations of life.
Mr. Boyd is a thirty-second
degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner, has
been high priest of the Royal
Arch Masons, is a member of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
B. P. O. Elks, is a member of the
State Historical Society and
a Republican in politics. Robert Boyd's
brother, Edward M., left three
children: R. J. Boyd, a graduate of
Princeton University, now
office engineer of the State Highway
Department at Lincoln, Nebraska;
Edward, a graduate of Yale University,
who died January 13, 1927,
in New York City; and Carson, who is in his
third year at Yale University.
MILES, STEPHEN BOYD, was born
on January 9, 1822, and was a son of Thomas
and SARAH (BOYD) Miles, natives
of York County, Pennsylvania, where
Stephen Boyd Miles was born.
Thomas Miles was a son of Joseph Miles, who
come to the American colonies
from Liverpool, England, in 1732, and
became a well-established
landowner in York County, Pennsylvania, where
his family is still honorably
and substantially represented. Joseph
Miles was a soldier who fought
during the American Revolution.
