                  LEWIS BOYD/LUCY A. ARCHER - PARKE CO; IN 
 

LEWIS BOYD, farmer and teacher, Rockville, was born in Parke County, January 14,1851, and is the son of HARRISON BOYD. His father was born in 1818, is still living, is a member of the Methodist church and in politics is a Democrat. Besides a good common literary education, Mr Boyd is a graduate of the Terre Haute Commercial College. He entered this school in 1872, graduating in five months. He also took merchant emporium besides the regular course. After leaving school he went into a store as a clerk, but on account of ill health began farming. He was
married April 12, 1876, to MISS LUCY A. ARCHER.  She was born January 29,
1858. They have two children: CHARLES H., born January 29,1877, and JOHN
H., born November 26, 1878. Mrs Boyd is the daughter of Lemuel and Martha
Archer. Mr Boyd made his own way through shool and has made all he now has. He has taught school eight six-month terms. As a teacher he gives good satisfaction and gets the highest wages. Mr Boyd is a member of the Presbyterian church, and in politics is a democrat, though he often votes for republicans, especially for county offices, aiming to vote for men and principles, and not for party alone.
